The University of Ottawa American Society of Mechanical Engineers (UOASME) is a student branch of ASME, a professional society recognized internationally. ASME promotes the art, science, and practice of mechanical and multidisciplinary engineering along with allied sciences around the globe. The core values of ASME are rooted in its mission to better enable mechanical engineering practitioners to contribute to the well-being of humankind.

Established in December 2006, UOASME opens doors to students that cannot be accessed on an individual basis. Besides taking advantage of all the benefits that come with one’s ASME membership (monthly magazine subscription among other benefits), the relationships that one can potentially build with professionals through our plant tours, technical seminars, career mentorship seminars, and design competitions are invaluable. With Ottawa being a non-industrial city, UOASME is a vital link that connects our future engineers with the industrial world.

UOASME also works on promoting mechanical engineering practice to those who wish to learn more about their contribution as engineers to the world’s economic prosperity. For more information on ASME feel free to visit ASME’s website at www.asme.org.
